Eastern Kentucky Racing Report
August 3 and 4 2001


Friday August 3rd:
At East Kentucky Raceway Park in Willard, Ky #87 Eddie Harmon took the checkers in the UMP modified feature.
Frank Porter, #6 took the runner up position, third was #00 Chris Prater, fourth to cross the line was #69 Tim Moore,
and fifth was Tony DeHart, #35. No. 34 Falcon Smith won the inex legend feature, 2nd was #405 Dewayne Lunsford.
No.77 Randy Fannin was the victor in the super bomber feature, the runner up was #64 Terry Hicks. No. 1F Harlan
Ferguson came home first in the bomber feature, the 4 cylinders had #R91 Rick Blevins come out on top, and #01
Arnie Fields won the Chevette feature.

Mountain Motor Speedway near Isom, Ky had a rain shortened evening which seen them get only 2 feature races in.
Those 2 were the limited late model race that #10 Raymond Nichols took the checkers in  and the 4 cylinder fuel
injected feature that Chris Combs #47 emerged with the victory.

Rain cancelled the action at Thunder Mountain Speedway.

Saturday August 4th:
At 201 Speedway in Sitka, KY Brandon Kinzer took the late model feature in his #18 Kinzer Drilling GRT/Elliott
Mustang, David Powers in the #97 Fannins Sawmill Stinger/Cropper Grand Prix took the runner up spot. No. 911
Kurt Hofess continued his dominance in the  UMP modified division at 201 with a win. The victor in the super
bombers was #7a Glen Patton., winner of the $600 to win bomber feature was # 41 Josh McGuire, the 11x of
Scott Pennington took the checkers in the road hog division, and #18k D.I. Henson took the 4 cylinder feature.

Half Mountain Speedway, which hoped to kick off their season this Saturday, cancelled their opening night due
to rain Friday night that brought up concerns with the condition of the parking lot and pit area.

No. 38 Al Maddin took his second late model feature win this season at Perry Co. Saturday night, #42 Randy
Fields took the checkers in the late model trophy dash. No. 19 Jamie Slone won in the street stock feature,
with #B3 Tommy Brewer winning the street stock trophy dash. It was a good night for Jimmy Collins, his #0
took the checkers in both the feature and the trophy dash for the bomber division.  In the road hog division,
#71 Cager Baker Jr won the feature, #77E Jamie Fields won the trophy dash. In the 4 cylinder division,
#84 Keith Anderson was victorious in the feature,  #88 William Kirk and #29 Tim Colwell took the trophy dashes.

Other Notes:
Jackie Boggs, Randy Boggs, Tommy Boggs, Paul Harris, Greg Lucas and Chris Wilson were all in
Portsmouth, OH Saturday night at Portsmouth Raceway Park for the Renegade STARS Racing Series'
"Cornett Clash 100". There was 36 cars and drivers at the 3/8 mile oval for the race. Jackie Boggs
qualified 2nd and finished 21st in the feature after having suspension problems, he's now tied with RJ
Conley for 3rd in STARS championship points.  His uncle Randy set the 15th fastest time and finished
11th in the feature. Tommy Boggs qualified 27th but didn't make the feature, Paul Harris turned fast time
of the night and finished 7th in the feature. Greg Lucas qualified 10th and finished 8th in the feature, and
Chris Wilson qualified 33rd, and didn't make the feature event.

Eddie Carrier Jr was at the Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, Ky Saturday night for the $7,500 to win
"Bluegrass Classic." Carrier, in the #1 Miller Brothers Coal Rocket/Cropper Monte Carlo, won the second
consolation race and finished 18th in the feature event.
