Eastern Kentucky Racing Report
August 10 and 11 2001

Rains fall on HMS Opening Parade
(8-12-01)  Saturday night seen a new chapter in dirt racing history written here in Eastern Kentucky.
The new 4/10 mile 20 degree banked track had it's first race last Saturday night, but was cut short early.
A nice sized crowd and a healthy field of cars were there, some of the noteables in the late model
division were Eddie Carrier Jr, Chucky May, and Shannon Thornsberry. Hotlap sessions for all classes
were completed, and qualifying was underway for the late models when Mother Nature put a halt to the
night's action. The fast time after 6 or so late models had qualified was turned by Chucky May in the
#28 Miller Bros. Coal GRT/Custom Mustang, with a lap of 17.10 seconds in light rain. HMS will have a
fresh start next week, all qualifying and drawing for postions from this Saturday will be thrown out. Tickets
and pit wrist bands from this Saturday will be honored at next Saturday's event. For more info on the
track, visit HalfMountainSpeedway.com.
Friday August 10:
East Kentucky Raceway Park in Willard, had rain postpone their action for Friday evening, the racing for this
weekend has been rescheduled for Sunday, August 12 starting at 2:30.

Eddie Carrier Jr took the late model feature at Mountain Motor Speedway near Isom, #45
Tim Mason took the bomber race and #3a Larry Adams took the 4 cylinder feature.

For the second consecutive week, rain put a stop to the action at Thunder Mountain Speedway near Olive Hill.
