RENEGADE STARS RACING SERIES 2001 SCHEDULE READY!!!
Apple Creek,OH 1-26-01Some familiar places and some new places dot the 2001 tentative schedule for the Renegade STARS Racing Series race teams and fans with 34 racing meets booked for the Ohio-based dirt Late Model sanctioning organization. Nineteen different tracks in eight states will host the Renegade STARS Racing Series in 2001 with total purses for the season exceeding the $1,300,000 mark. For the second consecutive season the Renegade STARS Racing Series will start and end the season at East Bay Raceway in Tampa,FL sanctioning both the "25th Silver Anniversary Late Model Winternationals", which begin February 5, and the November 8-10 "2nd Annual Late Model Fall Nationals".
"The schedule has shaped up nicely", stated Renegade STARS Racing Series PR/Race Director Bret Emrick. "So far we have 34 races booked for the 2001 campaign and we do have some open dates that we would like to get filled. It looks to be a real good year schedule-wise as we'll race at some great facilities that have supported STARS throughout the years. Plus, we'll be venturing back to some tracks that we haven't raced at in a few years and we will also be racing at some new venues which is really exciting. The competition this year should be fantastic. We had some great, great racing in 2000 and I expect the same, if not better racing, in 2001".
The Renegade STARS Racing Series will compete during the 2001 season at such stalwarts as East Bay (FL) Raceway, K-C (OH) Raceway, The Fabulous Bedford (PA) Speedway, Hagerstown (MD) Speedway, Challenger (PA) Raceway, Florence (KY) Speedway, Raceway (OH) 7, Muskingum County (OH) Speedway, Portsmouth (OH) Raceway Park, Interstate 79 (WV) Speedway, Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania (PA) Speedway and "The Rock"-Allegany County (MD) Speedway.
Speedway's returning to the Renegade STARS Racing Series schedule for 2001
after a few years absence include Cedar Lake (WI) Speedway, Ritchie County (WV) Racing at Pennsboro, Lakeville (OH) Speedway, Thunder Ridge (KY) Raceway and Winchester (VA) Speedway. Tracks hosting their first ever Renegade STARS Racing Series events will be Attica (OH) Raceway Park, Dog Hollow (PA) Speedway and Thunder Valley (PA) Raceway.
The 2001 season will commence February 5 at East Bay (FL) Raceway for the opening night of the "25th Silver Anniversary Late Model Winternationals" and continue February 6 before wrapping up February 9 with a 100 lap feature event paying $12,500 to the winner. A total purse in excess of $100,000 has been posted for three nights of Renegade STARS Racing Series sanctioned events at East Bay Raceway.
The "northern" portion of the 2001 schedule will start April 7 with the first of three visits to K-C (OH) Raceway. Three straight nights of racing will close the month of April as The Fabulous Bedford (PA) Speedway host's their lone 2001 Renegade STARS Racing Series appearance April 27. Hagerstown (MD) Speedway will host STARS April 28 for the first of three 2001 stops at "The Capital of Dirt Track Racing". Challenger (PA) Raceway welcomes the Renegade STARS Racing Series April 29 for the first of two 2001 visits to the hilltop speedway.
The month of May features three events on the schedule. Florence (KY) Speedway will host the Renegade STARS Racing Series May 12 for the first of two appearances in 2001. Raceway (OH) 7 will host STARS only one time in 2001, that happening May 25 before the series travels to Muskingum County (OH) Speedway May 26 for the first of two visits during the 2001 ason.
New track owners Brad Cailor and Charlie Fisher along with race night operations director Gene Frankhart will host the Renegade STARS Racing Series at Attica (OH) Raceway Park for the very first time ever June 15. K-C (OH) Raceway will then present their second STARS event of 2001 June 16. Cedar Lake (WI) Speedway brings the Renegade STARS Racing Series back to town June 22 for the first time since the 1997 racing season. Portsmouth (OH) Raceway Park host's their first of three 2001 STARS stops June 30.
July 1 will mark the return of the Renegade STARS Racing Series to the egg-shaped oval of Ritchie County (WV) Racing at Pennsboro. The stop, which will feature racing under the lights for the very first time at Pennsboro, marks the first return of the series to the unique track since the 1997 season. July 4 will find STARS making their first visit since the 1991 season to Lakeville (OH) Speedway. Hagerstown (MD) Speedway welcomes the Renegade STARS Racing Series back for the second 2001 visit July 13. After a one-year absence from the schedule Thunder Ridge (KY) Raceway brings STARS in July 20 & 21. July 28 find's the Renegade STARS Racing Series back to Muskingum County (OH) Speedway.
Portsmouth (OH) Raceway Park will kick off the month of August with the second of three 2001 stops August 4. The Renegade STARS Racing Series will then make first time ever visit's to Dog Hollow (PA) Speedway and Thunder Valley (PA) Raceway August 10 and August 11 respectively. STARS returns to Hagerstown (MD) Speedway August 18 and to Challenger (PA) Raceway August 19 for their final appearance's of the year at both tracks. The month of August will conclude August 24 with the final visit of the year to Florence (KY) Speedway.
September see's Interstate 79 (WV) Speedway hosting the Renegade STARS Racing Series for their only appearance of the year at the quarter-mile track September 1. Portsmouth (OH) Raceway Park then hold's their final STARS visit of the season September 2. Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania (PA) Motor Speedway will present the Renegade STARS Racing Series September 15 & 16 for the annual "Pittsburgher 100". K-C (OH) Raceway then closes out their season with STARS September 22. The Renegade STARS Racing Series will make their first visit to Winchester (VA) Speedway since the 1998 season September 28 & 29 for the running of the "Winchester 200".
"The Rock"-Allegany County (MD) Speedway bring's the Renegade STARS Racing Series to town October 5 as part of the three-day "Big Kahuna Week-end". The 2001 season for the Renegade STARS Racing Series will then conclude where it started, as East Bay (FL) Raceway host's the "2nd Annual Late Model Fall Nationals" November 8 - 11 with a minimum $30,000 earmarked for the winner of the final race.
