Eastern Kentucky Racing Report July 27 and 28 ,2001 Friday July 27: In Willard at East Kentucky Raceway Park, #12 Travis Brookover won the semi late model feature, in the runner up spot was #33 David Brown, and #66 Rick Harrison was third. No. 69 Tim Moore took the modified feature, second was #C1 Chris Click, and Frank Porter #6 was third. In the super bombers, #64 Terry Hicks was victorious, he was followed by #65 Jim Lemaster. No. 1F Harlan Ferguson won the bomber feature, #84 Keith Anderson won the 4 cylinder feature, and #01 Arnie Fields won the Chevette race. At Mountain Motor Speedway in Isom, Ky, #38 Al Maddin took the late model feature win, #42 Randy Fields was second. Raymond Nichols, #10, took the limited late feature. Jimmy Collins, #0, won in the bomber division with #45 Tim Mason in second. Chris Combs #47 won the 4 cylinder fuel injected race, and #3a Larry Adams won the 4 cylinder race. At Thunder Mountain Speedway near Olive Hill, Arron Hatton won the late model feature, second was Tommy Boggs #TB4, and Alan Henderson was third. Eddie Harmon was victorious in the modified feature, running second to him was Jim Wilson. The super street division seen #31 Lee Neil take the checkers, and #24 Eric Stegall was second. In the bombers division, Josh McGuire won, second was Joey Back. Saturday July 28: The races at 201 Speedway and at Perry Co. Speedway were cancelled due to rain. Other Notes: Half Mountain Speedway in Royalton will have their first race on Saturday night, August 4. The gates open at 4 and hotlaps start at 7. Friday night the UDTRA ProDirt Car Series was in Florence, Ky for the Ironman 100 qualifying and heats. A few eastern Kentucky drivers were there, Stanley Haddix, Brandon Kinzer, and Chucky May. There were 49 cars and drivers there for the event. Haddix qualified 23rd, finished 9th in his heat, and will start 9th in the second consolation race. Kinzer posted the 40th fastest time in qualifying, finished 8th in his heat, and will start 8th in the second onsolation race. Chucky May turned the 43rd quick time, finished 12th in his heat and will start 15th in the second consolation race. The consolation races and feature were to be ran Saturday night, but were postphoned by rain, and have been rescheduled for August 11. Jackie Boggs was at Raceway 7 in Conneaut,OH Friday night for the Renegade STARS Racing Series "Bolt Place North Coast 100". Jackie was 15th fastest in time trials, won the second heat, and went on to finish second in the feature to Chub Frank. Boggs with his strong second place finish moved back up to 3rd in STARS championship Points. |
