Willard Speedway to open May 24

WILLARD ­ Willard Speedway, formerly known as East Kentucky Raceway Park, will begin its fifth season of exciting,
dirt track racing on Friday, May 24. Track owner Jim Allen, a Floyd County resident, is looking forward to his most
successful season to date.
"We're looking forward to getting started this year," said Allen. "The track looks good, and we feel like this could be
our best season yet."
Classes racing at Willard Speedway this season will include Super Bombers, Bombers, 4-Cylinders, UMP Modifieds
and Road Hogs. Four-wheelers will also race at the Carter County track.
Several drivers from throughout Eastern Kentucky race at the track.
The Willard Speedway Kids Club, formerly known as the East Kentucky Raceway Park Kids Club, will also be in full
swing will several activities for children of all ages. Each Friday night, Willard Speedway will feature something
different for race fans of all ages to enjoy.
"We want to make it fun for fans of all ages," added Allen. "When people come to Willard Speedway we want them
to get their moneys worth."
A pit pass at Willard Speedway this season is priced at $15. General admission is $8.
Late last season, Willard Speedway, then known as East Kentucky Raceway Park, honored its track champions.
Track champs for last season were Paul Day, Frank Porter, Terry Hicks, Jack Clevenger and Arnie Fields.
Prior to the season-opener, advertising space is still available at the Carter County track. Two-sided billboards
